What this is
A guided way to turn scattered notes into one brief you can send to a supplier. It asks for one thing at a time — the couple and the day, the supplier, what has been agreed, what is still open — and produces a document they can quote and work from.
Working through it
Answer what is in front of you and move on. You can go backwards and forwards freely, and leave something and come back to it. Where a question needs more explanation, a More guidance control sits beside it. Nothing is compulsory and nothing locks.
Where your work is saved
On your own device, in the browser you are using. It saves as you go and tells you when it has saved. Nothing is sent anywhere, and Open Bracket holds no copy of it and cannot see it.
Your briefs are tied to this browser on this device. Open it somewhere else and they will not be there. Clearing your browsing data can remove them.
Using it online
Saving works in every browser, including Safari. You need a connection to open it.
Using a downloaded copy
It works with no connection at all. Safari cannot save when the file is opened this way — use Chrome, Edge or Firefox. On iPhone and iPad, use the online version instead, because every browser there is Safari underneath.
Backing up
Use Backup. It gives you a single file holding every brief. Keep it wherever you keep your other working files. Restore puts them back, and tells you how many will be overwritten before anything happens.
Back up anything that matters. Browser storage is outside anyone’s control and can be cleared by you, by your browser or by your IT settings.
Producing the finished document
Choose Generate. If anything is missing or contradictory you will be shown it first, and you can go back or continue anyway.
Then print the page and choose Save as PDF. In the print dialog, tick Background graphics and set Headers and footers to off. Both matter — without the first the document prints without its colour, and without the second your browser adds its own page furniture over yours.
Versions and reissues
When something changes, use Reissue rather than editing the brief you already sent. The earlier version is kept and marked as superseded, and the new one records what changed. Suppliers can then see which version they are holding.
What it does not do
It does not make the decisions. It records the ones you have made and marks the ones you have not. Nothing in it will tell you which of two options is right for this couple.
It does not read anything. Every line in the finished brief is there because you typed it. If a contradiction sits between an email in March and a phone call in June, you are the one who notices it.
It holds one supplier at a time. A florist brief and a caterer brief are two separate briefs. There is no view that holds a whole wedding together.
It does not hold images. Reference images are described and listed by name so the supplier knows what to read from each one. The images themselves go in your email.
It is not a contract. It records what was agreed, when, and which version supersedes which. It does not replace your supplier agreements or anyone’s terms of trade.
